Setting the bar in high end fitness, dance and yoga classes, oranj works with local athletes for continuous feedback on the types of classes that should be offered. Personal development, empowerment, entrepreneurship, balance, fun and goal setting are our core values that we incorporate into our lives on a daily basis.

Our Family

Andrea Jordan

Andrea started to practice yoga in 2001 and she has been a teacher for seven years. She completed her Ashtanga Primary Series Teacher Training at It's Yoga studio in her home town of San Juan, Puerto Rico. She has been a member (RYT 200) of the Yoga Alliance since 2006. For the past four years her journey as a yoga teacher in the Fort McMurray community has been amazing. Her experience here has given her an incredible opportunity to share her passion for yoga with wonderful people, who have also become good friends. Andrea will be teaching Hot Happy Hour Yoga and Ashtanga Primary Series at oranj. People of all experience levels are welcome.

Brittany Lalonde

Brittany is an avid athlete and lover of fitness. She has been training regularly since roughly 2003. Her belief is that variety of workouts is key and routine is the enemy. Switching up your workouts and challenging yourself is what the body needs for optimal results. She is here to turn things up a notch and motivate you to unleash your inner beast. Come join Brittany to get the best out of your workout!

Chantelle Somers


Chantelle is a high energy, lively instructor who will push you past your limits! She believes it’s important to have an effective and safe workout while still having fun doing it. Chantelle is an excellent example that fitness is for everyone, no matter your previous experience or current schedule. She obtained her fitness certification through ISSA in 2014, and plans on continuing to learn and create growth as a trainer. When she is not in the studio she is spending time with her daughter and her Australian Shepherd, Dixie, exploring our beautiful region on foot, bicycle or in her kayak. Chantelle can't wait to make you smile and sweat in class and help you be the best version of yourself possible!

 

Cassie Anderson

Cassie recently completed her 200-hour teacher training at oranj with the wonderful Nicki Doane in 2014, and she is thrilled to be on the team!  Yoga has been a part of her life since she was young, but as life became more stressful in adulthood, the importance of daily practice became not just a joy in her life, but a necessity.  She can't wait to share her passion and love of yoga with everyone around her.  She hopes to build many new relationships, while continuing to learn and grow with everyone at oranj!

Carla Playford

Carla Playford has been practicing and loving yoga since 2012. Carla received her 200-hour and 500-hour training in Costa Rica. She loves teaching flow and power classes to increase energy, strength, and flexibility in the mind and body. For as long as she can remember she has been interested in a mind over matter, natural healing, as well as creating a love everybody and everythingkind of world. Carla has always strived to find that perfect health and attitude that she would see in all of her books, but when she found yoga she learned that life isn't about being perfect all the time. Yoga taught Carla that its important to have balance and moderation in everything you do. She believes that there are good days and bad days; days where you feel strong and steady in your practice, and days you just need to lay in corpse pose for an hour.

Chelsea Ray

Chelsea had just finished her Psychology degree when she took her first yoga teacher training in 2012. Since then she has completed over  1500 hrs of yoga training specializing in yoga for pain, anxiety & health, kid’s yoga and meditation.  Chelsea has taught in drug and alcohol recovery centers, brain injury clinics, in studios and has also worked with athletes.  She has had a deep respect for this practice from the first time she stepped onto the mat, but when she suddenly lost her fiancé in August 2015 her yoga practice took on a far deeper role in her life.  Her teaching has become more convicted. Chelsea's  goal is to guide people on the mat in ways that extend far into their lives off the mat. From leading large community classes to private one-on-ones, make sure to spend time with Chelsea to get closer to yourself.

 

DENISE EVANS

Denise moved to Fort McMurray with her family in August of 2009.  In 2010 a good friend brought her to her very first yoga class and Denise has been hooked ever since.  In 2012, she attained her 200 HR teacher training through SOYA yoga under the guidance of Mugs(Marion) McConnell and Helen Mikuska .  In 2015, Denise attended a Yin training under the guidance of Joe Barnett.  Her styles of yoga include Hot Yoga, Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, and Restorative. Her hope through the teachings and practising of Yoga is that each and every one of us, in some way, find a little more peace in our life and a little more acceptance of self and others.

Emma Mason

Emma has been in the fitness industry for 15 years, specializing in group fitness. Originally from the UK, she moved to Canada where she continued her fitness journey, ending up in Fort McMurray. She joined the Oranj family when they first opened, and continues to push boundaries, kick butts and help the community of Fort McMurray reach their fitness goals!

Haley Mitchell

Born and raised on Vancouver Island, Haley has always been active and had a passion for fitness. During high school, instead of playing sports, she was in the gym and did her first bikini competition at 18 years old. After competing she made the move out to Fort McMurray, where she has been for the past few years while working on obtaining her nursing degree. Haley is an AFLCA certified resistance trainer and group exercise leader designated in spin and portable equipment. In her classes she encourages everyone to push themselves outside their comfort zone!

Helen Killorn

Helen was born and raised in Charlottetown, PEI, however her yoga journey didn't begin until 2011 while living in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. Struggling for most of her life with severe anxiety, Helen found herself coming to her mat each and every day not only for the physical benefits, but also for the effect it was having on her mind and soul. As she started to feel the transformation yoga had in her life, Helen felt inspired to share the gift of yoga with others. In 2013, she strapped on her backpack and travelled to Costa Rica where she studied closely with Angela Boltz (founder of Living Flow) and completed her 200HRYT with focus in Vinyasa. Helen is also certified in Barre with BARREast in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Helen believes the mind, body, soul connection is a sacred one, and one that should be nurtured and inspired! Helen brings a great sense of fun to each of her classes and she hopes to impart nuggets of wisdom along the way!

MEGAN JOHNSON

As a Fort McMurray local, Megan is very proud to be born & raised in such a strong community. She has spent time working for the Municipality of Wood Buffalo, where her love for fitness began in 2010.  She decided to take the plunge & move back to Edmonton where she started with the Government of Alberta & she found a new group of fitness friends! From running the Glenora stairs during her lunch break to intense early morning Bootcamp classes, Megan always found time to incorporate fitness into her daily life - especially after finding out she was pregnant with her son, Westyn. She knows how important it is to be a healthy, strong & positive role model, not only for her son but for her peers too. Megan was recently certified as a Fitness Instructor Specialist through Canfitpro and she looks forward to challenging her Oranj family!

Mike McKoy

Mike is a high-energy trainer who loves people and exercise! He has 12 years of athletic background and experience working with professional sports trainers. Since personally losing 62 pounds and 12 inches off his waist in 9 months, Mike knows first-hand what it takes to lose weight, tone, trim inches, become flexible and gain muscle. Mike specializes in helping others lose weight, and train for sports, fitness and muscle strength. As a trainer, Mike creates a custom program for each client, based on an analysis of client's fitness levels during an assessment. Mike knows how to correct technique and ensure clients are working out safely. Hell push you to become the best you and help you reach your fitness goals!

Naticia MacDougall

Naticia MacDougall is owner of Total Package Fitness as a certified personal trainer, fitness instructor and nutritionist. She has 13 years experience in the fitness industry and a degree in Kinesiology. Naticia has competed in Fitness for the Worlds Beauty Fitness Fashion and placed 1st in 2014 and 3rd place in 2015!  As a fierce competitor, fitness and living a healthy lifestyle is Naticia's passion. "Never give up. Believe in yourself."

Shelby Marshall

Shelby's yoga journey began when she was four years old, in her grandmothers basement. Little did she know that the many 7:00am tree poses and downdogs would become a life long journey and passion. She completed her 200hr Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at the Vancouver School of Yoga in October 2014, and has been teaching since January 2015. She believes that the practice of yoga allows you to find your own authenticity, and encourages her students to do the same- to discover who they are at the deepest level. Expect to be challenged yet supported on your mat, moving with your breath to a funky playlist and quite possibly a little bit of laughter throughout the class.

Shantal Heskett

Shantal has been instructing group fitness for over 20 years and loves every minute of it! You may see her on the schedule for fitness and yoga, so look out!  Shantal has a wealth of knowledge in the fitness industry and has also competed in many body building competitions. She is very familiar with weight training and nutrition 101! Shantal will definitely make you work hard with a smile, so get ready to "get on the bus!"

Sheila Chutskoff

A born entrepreneur, Sheila Chutskoff is the founder of oranj fitness, as well as a yoga instructor, public speaking guru and goal coach. When Sheila graduated from Royal Roads University in 2002, she immediately started working at lululemon athletica – what was then a small, privately owned yoga apparel company. In the beginning, lululemon had less than 100 employees and only four stores. Sheila worked with lululemon for more than six years, during which time she helped take it from four stores to over 150. Her blissful lululemon life consisted of managing stores, being the regional marketing manager for Western Canada and working with all of lululemon’s Olympic athletes. In October 2007 Sheila decided to venture out on her own and achieve her long-time dream opening her own studio – oranj fitness. Sheila has spent more than seven years coaching staff and friends on how to achieve their goals. Her true passion is seeing everyone around her succeed in life. A person who is achieving his or her own goals in life is a happier employee, friend and loved one too. In her day-to-day encounters with people, Sheila makes it abundantly clear how much it means to her that she see them succeed.

Tara-Lynn McIver

Born and raised in Fort McMurray, Tara-Lynn is so grateful for her life here surrounded by family and friends with her wonderful husband and two beautiful boys. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alberta and has been working as a registered nurse at her local hospital for the past 12 years. Tara-Lynn's love for yoga and all its physical, mental and spiritual benefits began when she started her practice 13 years ago.  She recently lived her dream of completing her 200-hour teacher training and is so excited to be joining the oranj team. She believes in seeing reflections of ourselves in all things and in others, while being the best, kindest humans we can be; and living a balanced healthy lifestyle.

Matt Oliver

Matt Oliver is a proud resident of Fort McMurray, calling this city his home for over 10 years!  He enjoys volleyball and golf and of course dancing!  He joined the Zumba fitness craze to support his wife and very quickly, it became one of his favourite pastimes!  His passion for world travel and international rhythms made Zumba the perfect fit for his life!!  Matt loves to share this passion for dance and international beats and encourages everyone to come and experience a Zumba Party for themselves!!

Roxy Oliver

Roxy Oliver has called Fort McMurray home for the past 10 years!  She fell in love with the Zumba Fitness program and became an instructor in 2012. She went on to specialize in Zumba Kids® and has taught over a thousand children, the benefits of an active lifestyle and how to party Zumba Style!! Roxy has since jumped in front of adults, of all shapes and sizes, sharing her passion for an active lifestyle and love for dance!!! Roxy knows that Zumba is for everyone and can't wait to share the dance floor with the oranj family!

Amanda Horning

Amanda Horning was born and raised in beautiful British Columbia where she developed her deep love of nature. Amanda has a background in forestry and she loves exploring the outdoors with her family and friends. She now lives in Fort McMurray with her husband, son and dogs. Amanda completed her yoga teacher training in 2013 and since has continued to pursue further yoga studies. Slower styles such as yin and deep and gentle are her favorite classes to teach. When not at oranj you may see Amanda at Shine Kids Fitness teaching yoga, Danepl3yor nature classes. Amanda loves to share her passion with others and is looking forward to seeing you in class.
